Resource description
The Robot-Assisted Emotion Recognition Training (RAERT) Method employs social robots to help children with IDDs recognize and understand human emotions. By interacting with robots that display various facial expressions and emotional cues, children can learn to identify and appropriately respond to different emotions, enhancing their social communication skills.
Sample of use in education with students with IDD
In a controlled setting, a robot displays a series of facial expressions representing different emotions such as happiness, sadness, anger, and surprise. The child is asked to identify the emotion and discuss situations that might cause such feelings. The robot provides feedback and reinforcement, creating a supportive environment for learning emotional recognition.
