Vex Robotics

Resource description
VEX Robotics provides a comprehensive suite of educational robotics systems designed to enhance learning in STEM fields. The VEX platform includes VEX IQ, VEX EDR, and VEX V5, each associated to different educational levels from elementary to high school and depending to the student capacity. These systems offer a range of components, including motors, sensors, and structural elements, allowing students to design, build, and program sophisticated robots. VEX Robotics is widely used in educational settings and competitive robotics programs, providing students with opportunities to engage in hands-on learning and apply theoretical concepts in practical scenarios. The accompanying VEXcode programming environment supports both block-based and text-based coding, making it accessible to learners of all skill levels.
Sample of use in education with students with IDD
It can be applied in Robot treatments for children with autism
A Learning Objective with which it could fit:
Objective: To apply engineering principles to design and construct a functional robot.
Activity: Students can work in teams (promoting this skill) to design and build a robot capable of completing a specific challenge, such as picking up and moving objects, fostering collaboration and application of engineering concepts.
Objective: To develop programming skills using both block-based and text-based coding languages.
Activity: Using VEXcode, students can program their robots to perform tasks autonomously, such as navigating through an obstacle course, emphasizing logical thinking and problem-solving.
